Special Presentation - Search and Rescue Dogs

At our March 11th meeting we were privileged to enjoy a program presented by the North Central K-9 Search and Rescue Club. They are an organization of volunteers who provide assistance to public safety agencies in the recovery of  lost, missing, or drowned persons.

We had a really good turnout, and the food was great! Lion Nancy K. organized the special meal at the elementary school cafeteria. Neat decorations too! We are looking forward to the omelet breakfast on March 30!!

25 years of dedicated service!

At the February 12th regular meeting, three of our members were honored by receiving the Lions International Milestone Chevron Award.

This award is given in recognition of 25 years of continuous membership and community service in local Lions Clubs.

Those receiving their awards at the meeting were, (Left to Right), Lion Marvin Poppen, Lion Bruce Collmann, and Lion Arnold Smith.

Other Manson Lions that will receive the award, but were not available for a photo were, Lion Tim Sinek, Lion Jim Waller, and Lion Dean Whaley.

Congratulations to you all!! Our community is better because of your efforts!

Lion Marvin Poppen Honored

At the February 12th regular meeting, Lion Marvin Poppen received a Lions International Membership Key.

This signifies that Lion Marv was instrumental in bringing two new members into the Manson Lions Club in the last year.

Congratulations Lion Marv!! Good work!!

2007 Operation Xmas packing night

Tuesday, December 18, was the night our club gathered to pack holiday food boxes for the needy here in Manson. This is a tradition that has been going on for over 20 years.

Santa had 20 happy helpers as we packed food and presents to be distributed around the community on December 22nd.

After the packing was finished, we gathered at the Pizza Ranch for food and fellowship, looking forward to the holiday season.

2007 Lions Pie Sale

The 2007 Lions Pie Sale was a great success with lots of pies sold and distributed and good profit to be used for more community projects. To see a slide show of the distribution, click on the photo above.

Chili Cookoff pie sampling

The Manson Lions club kicked off their 2007 pie sales with a free sampling booth at the 2007 Manson Chili Cookoff.

It was a cool and drizzly day, but that didn't keep the hungry people away.

Shown in the photo are co-chairpeople Lion Judy Besch, and Lion Nancy Klaassen. Also in the photo are Lion Bob Sexton, and Lion Geri Smith. Lion Cletus Klaassen, Lion Arnie Smith, and Lion Dennis Besch were also helping to man the booth.

The Manson Lions are hoping to have a great pie sale season. Proceeds from the Pie Sale will fund Operation Christmas and donations to After Prom and other worthwhile projects.
